SAFEGUARDING & FIVE TOWNS JUJITSU

As a club that provides services and classes to young persons and/or adults at risk, we take our safeguarding procedures very seriously. All our instructors are vetted through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) for your reassurance as our customer. The aim of this page is to introduce our safeguarding mechanisms outlined in our Safeguarding Statement. We invite you to read our safeguarding policy by following the links on this page. SAFEGUARDING cODE

Here at Five Towns Ju Jitsu Ryu, we are leading the charge in sports safeguarding, having successfully attained the Safeguarding Code in Martial Arts “mark”. The Safeguarding Code in Martial Arts recognises clubs and providers in England who have have demonstrated that they have reached and maintained good safeguarding standards. Governing bodies, associations, organisations, franchisers and activity deliverers can work towards attaining recognition along with clubs and individual instructors, coaches and teachers outside of a club structure. The scheme empowers parents/carers and educational establishments to make informed decisions when selecting a club or provider for their child/children, young people or adults in their care. The Safeguarding Code has been developed through close consultation between Sport England, representatives from martial arts governing bodies and those with years of expertise in safeguarding. Support was also provided by the Child Protection in Sport Unit, the Ann Craft Trust and NWG Network. It is funded by the National Lottery and was launched by the Sports Minister in early 2018. Achieving the Safeguarding Code, demonstrates Five Towns Ju Jitsu Ryu’s commitment to upholding its duty-of-care to the community and young people. Richard Stecko MBE, Chief Instructor at Five Towns Ju Jitsu Ryu , states, “We are committed to providing the highest standards of martial arts practices to the local community for the next generation. Achieving the Safeguarding Code Mark is essential to demonstrate assurance to parents and carers that their children can enjoy martial arts recreation in a fun, safe and regulated environment.” Developed in consultation with Sport England, representatives from martial arts governing bodies, and leading safeguarding experts, the Code is funded by the National Lottery and was launched by the Sports Minister in 2018.
